Lockton, a privately held, independent insurance brokerage, has appointed Sara Romine as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, with the appointment taking effect on 1 November 2026.
Romine will oversee its global legal operations, offering strategic advice and managing oversight of risk and compliance across the business. She will take over from Trey Humphrey, who has held the position for 26 years.
According to Lockton, the appointment supports its succession planning and leadership continuity as the business continues to expand internationally and respond to increasingly complex operating conditions.

Romine joined Lockton in December 2022 as Senior Vice President and US General Counsel. During her time with the company, she has worked closely with senior leaders and overseen the development of the US legal team, including the recruitment of experienced legal professionals and legal operations specialists. Lockton also noted her role in directing litigation strategy, which has contributed to the successful resolution of several high-profile cases.
