Markel International Singapore, a specialist insurance office of the global insurer and reinsurer, has hired Colin Fordham from Munich Re to be a senior marine liability underwriter based from the Singapore office.
Fordham had most recently worked for the Munich Re syndicate on the Lloyd’s Asia Platform in Singapore, also underwriting marine liability risks, and has over 20 years of marine insurance experience in underwriting, claims and broking.
Before his time with Munich Re, Fordham was a general manager for Seasia P&I Services working with claims handlers and master mariners and managing a correspondent network in more than 20 countries.
Commenting on the appointment, Matthew Cannock, principal officer & managing director of Markel International Singapore, said; “We are delighted with Colin’s appointment. He will make a valuable addition to the marine underwriting team here in Asia. With Colin’s wealth of experience and expertise, we can definitely look towards growing Markel’s marine liability book of business in the region. The timing of this appointment could not be better following so closely to our acquisition of the Galleon Underwriting Agency last year and this means that we will be able to offer their innovative products to our partners across Asia Pacific.”
Fordham will report directly to Cannock and will be tasked with helping to increase Markel’s marine liability business in Asia.
