Markel Corporation has expanded its Trade Credit and Political Risk operations in New York with the appointment of Jennifer Chang as Underwriter and Senior Risk Analyst.
Chang has nine years’ experience in the trade credit and insurance industry and has broad expertise in both commercial and risk underwriting, having most recently spent four years as a Senior Underwriter at Zurich American Insurance Company, also in New York.
Previously, Chang also held senior positions at AIG and QBE, and was instrumental in supporting the establishment of Zurich’s excess of loss capabilities and QBE Americas’ trade credit division.
In her new role, Chang will report to Phil Amlot, Head of Trade Credit and Political Risk, Americas and will work closely with Senior Underwriter Howard Lee and Underwriter Christen Mizell.
She will also support Arjan van de Wall, Development Director for the team globally, who is based in the U.S.
Amlot commented on the appointment: “Jennifer has an established track record of building successful businesses and teams, of technical excellence and product development. She brings broad broker and client contacts to our operation and will play an important role in developing our US trade credit and political risk business.”
Ewa Rose, Managing Director of Markel’s Trade Credit, Political Risk and Surety business, also stated: “Jennifer’s appointment reflects Markel’s continuing investment across our product portfolio. The Americas region remains rich in opportunities for our trade credit and political risk business and we look to capitalize on the cross selling opportunities that exist within Markel’s broader portfolio.”
“Jennifer’s broad underwriting experience will be a huge asset to our organization and we are delighted to have her on board,” she added.
