Specialist insurer Markel International has announced the appointments of Christian Stobbs and Colin Fordham to its Asia team.
Stobbs, who becomes Managing Director in the region, joined the firm in 2015 and has experience in developing local market insurance and operational strategy across Asia.
He was previously Asia Strategy Director and will take on the role from Matt Cannock.
In his new role, Stobbs will manage the daily operations of offices across the continent and be responsible for expanding the company’s footprint.
Meanwhile, Fordham has been appointed as Director for Asia. He joined the firm in 2017 as a Senior Marine Liability Underwriter and has overseen the development of Markel’s marine liability book in Asia.
He has been in the insurance industry for over 21 years, on top of 25 years’ experience in shipping and has extensive marine insurance experience in underwriting, claims and broking.
As Director for Asia, he will work closely with Stobbs to develop regional growth strategies and will lead the company’s business plans for Asia.
