Markel Specialty makes several senior appointments

Markel Group has announced five leadership appointments at its Markel Specialty arm, with Alison Burgess, Vince Colosimo, Matt Huels, Tim Pasik, and Mark Schauss all taking on new roles at the firm.

Burgess joined Markel in 2012, and brings more than two decades of experience to her new role as the Retail Regional President, East, where she will focus on Markel’s growth within the retail space.

Colosimo, who has been with Markel since 2012, also brings over two decades of experience to his new role. He’s been appointed as Managing Executive, Construction, where he will focus on product line growth across all lines in retail and wholesale channels.

Huels will now serve as Retail Regional President, West, with a focus on Markel’s growth within the retail space. He joined the firm in 2015, and has worked in the insurance sector for more than 20 years.

Pasik joined Markel in 2014 and has been appointed as the Wholesale Regional President, Northeast. In his new role, he will drive the growth of Markel’s wholesale business in this important region. Pasik is a market veteran, bringing almost four decades of insurance industry experience to the role.

Lastly, Schauss has been named as the Executive Underwriting Officer of Small Commercial. In this new role, he will be responsible for leading Markel Specialty’s small commercial team. Schauss has been with Markel since 2006 and has more than 15 years of industry experience.
