Markel Group Inc.’s insurance subsidiary, Markel has announced the appointment of Kevin Leung as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for its Asia Pacific (APAC) operations. He will report to Christian Stobbs, Managing Director of Markel’s International division in Asia Pacific, and will be based in Singapore.
In his new role, Leung’s remit will include leading the underwriting strategy for the region to generate profitable growth, enhance technical capabilities and help to strengthen Markel’s presence and continued growth in the region.
Leung is a market veteran and has over 25 years of insurance industry experience.
According to Markel, he has a track record of enhancing products and services, championing talent development, and delivering sustainable growth and underwriting profit in the APAC region.
Leung was most recently the Head of Casualty and Financial lines for APAC at Swiss Re, where he held various leadership roles. He has also held senior underwriting positions at several insurance carriers including Catlin, ACE Group and AIG.
