Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA), the US middle market subsidiary of global insurance broker Marsh, has announced the acquisition of Maine-based Clark Insurance, a leading independent agency.
Founded in 1913, Clark Insurance, led by president Jeff Shaw, provides business insurance, employee health and benefits, and private client services to businesses and individuals across the region.
The agency has 135 employees across offices in Portland, Maine, where it is headquartered; Windham and Gorham, Maine; Manchester, New Hampshire; and Lowell, Massachusetts, all of whom will join MMA.
Shaw said: “MMA opens a new chapter for our organisation and our key constituents. Operating with the strength and resources of Marsh McLennan Agency will give our clients access to more tools and resources to reach their goals.
“Our colleagues will see new opportunities for growth and development, and our commitment to supporting local communities will remain a top priority.”
Included in this acquisition is Haberman Insurance, a full-service agency based in West Springfield, Massachusetts, which was acquired by Clark in 2021.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
