Global professional services firm Marsh has announced the appointment of Jens Florian-Jansen as Head of its Insurance Practice, Europe, a newly created role, effective immediately.
Florian-Jansen will be based in Düsseldorf and report to Julian Enoizi, CEO of Marsh Re Europe.
Matthias Grass, formerly CFO of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, is succeeding Florian-Jansen as President of Marsh Risk Germany, effective immediately.
Grass will be based in Munich and report to Achim Lüder, CEO of Marsh Germany, Northern, Central and Eastern Europe.
Lüder commented: “Jens has led Marsh’s risk business in Germany with distinction, deepening our client relationships and developing our expertise across key areas of risk.
“His appointment reflects both the strength of client and market relationships he has built in Germany and the opportunity to extend these across Europe.
“Matthias will build on this strong foundation, with a clear focus on delivering for clients. Together, their leadership will help us connect our capabilities more effectively and deliver greater value to clients in Germany and across Europe.”
In his new position, Florian-Jansen will lead Marsh’s Insurance Practice across Europe, uniting the firm’s insurance, investments, capital markets, advisory, talent, and digital capabilities for insurance and reinsurance clients.
He will strengthen Marsh’s industry-led strategy by creating an integrated service model that assists insurers and reinsurers in enhancing resilience, adapting business models, and managing organisational transformation.
Having joined Marsh in 2009, Florian-Jansen has served in various senior roles covering client advisory, placement, strategy and digital transformation, including leading Marsh’s digital agenda across Continental Europe before being appointed as President of Marsh Risk Germany in 2022.
Grass will oversee the ongoing growth of Marsh Risk Germany, focusing on deepening client relationships and strengthening the advisory capabilities that help organisations identify, quantify and manage risk.
He brings two decades of experience across insurance, transformation, and leadership, including senior roles at Swiss Re and McKinsey & Company. Most recently, as CFO and a member of the Executive Committee at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, he led the global finance function and helped shape the business’s strategy.
Forian-Jansen said: “Insurance and reinsurance clients are navigating rapid industry shifts and an increasingly interconnected risk landscape. By connecting expertise from across Marsh more effectively around their needs, we can give clients greater access to the insights and capabilities they need to strengthen resilience and evolve their businesses. I look forward to working with colleagues across Europe to deliver the full breadth of Marsh to our insurance and reinsurance clients.”
Grass stated: “German businesses are facing significant change, shaped by economic uncertainty, geopolitical developments, technological disruption, and evolving business models. As such, they require advice that combines deep knowledge of the German market with global expertise and perspective. I look forward to working with our clients to anticipate emerging risks, strengthen resilience, and pursue their growth ambitions with greater confidence.”
