Independent specialist re/insurance broker Miller has launched Miller Malaysia, building on its established regional presence, with the new operation initially focusing on treaty and facultative reinsurance under its Labuan licence, before expanding its product capabilities over time.
Miller said the launch marks another milestone in its Asian growth strategy, following the opening of Miller Korea in January 2025 and the acquisition of Japanese broker Lead Insurance Services in 2022.
“With key talent already secured in the region, including Jo Garnett and Hui Sin Low, and additional new talent joining in late 2026, Miller is well positioned to deepen client relationships and pursue further growth opportunities in this important insurance market,” the firm explained.
Ron Whyte, Head of Asia at Miller, said, “Malaysia is a significant Asian market, and I am incredibly excited to be reestablishing the Miller brand in the region.
“We continue to be one of the fastest-growing players in Asia, building on milestones such as the launch of Miller Korea and our diversification into Japanese non-marine lines.
“With Miller Malaysia, we are continuing to demonstrate real momentum as we extend the scope and reach of our market-leading specialist capabilities.”
Miller placed around $5 billion in total gross written premium during 2025, as 180 new people joined in a significant year for the company.
The gross written premium of $5 billion was up from 2024’s $4 billion, while total revenues increased by 15%.
