Milliman, Inc., a global actuarial and consulting firm, has announced that Jim Fulton will become its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

milliman-logo-newFulton has served as Milliman’s Chief Financial Officer since 2015, where he has played a role in the firm’s organic growth and mergers and acquisitions strategy.

“I’ve seen how our talent and commitment to clients continue to be our differentiator. I’m looking forward to helping shape Milliman’s future as we continue to grow and evolve,” said Fulton

Fulton’s appointment comes as the firm continues to develop from its actuarial origins into a broader consultancy providing risk management and technology solutions. His career has included senior roles with major accounting firms, private equity-backed businesses and technology start-ups, giving him experience across professional services, finance and data-driven businesses.

Milliman Chair Bret Linton added: “Jim Fulton is the ideal leader as Milliman continues to grow and change in this complex and evolving environment. Jim knows Milliman and has been integral in our growth over the last decade. He lives our mission of serving our clients to protect the health and financial well-being of people everywhere.”

Fulton has more than 30 years of executive experience and is a Certified Public Accountant in the US. He began his career at PwC, spending 12 years in its assurance practice. Between 2002 and 2011, he served as chief financial officer and a partner at Crowe, a US accounting firm. He then worked from 2011 to 2015 with a venture capital firm at the University of Notre Dame’s Innovation Park, where he supported the launch of technology and data analytics start-ups. Fulton graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

Fulton further added: “Milliman continues to be the trusted advisor to our clients, who look to us for deep expertise and data-driven solutions.

“In the 11 years I’ve served as the firm’s financial leader I’ve come to know Milliman’s remarkable people. I’ve seen how our talent and commitment to clients continue to be our differentiator. I’m looking forward to helping shape Milliman’s future as we continue to grow and evolve.”

Fulton will succeed Dermot Corry, who is retiring after a five-year term as chief executive and a 44-year career with Milliman. During Corry’s tenure, Milliman said it continued to expand, completed nine acquisitions and increased the diversity of its data resources, analytics capabilities and specialist expertise.

Corry said: “Milliman is a unique organisation, with a commitment to independence and quality that attracts brilliant minds and cultivates innovation. It has been an honour to serve as CEO of Milliman. I couldn’t be more excited for Jim as he assumes the CEO role. I wish him the best and know that Milliman will be in good hands.”
