MS Amlin promotes Stuart Forsyth to Head of Marine

MS Amlin, Lloyd’s global insurer and reinsurer, has promoted Stuart Forsyth to Head of Marine, as Laurence Humberstone retires after 19 years with the firm.

ms-amlin-logoForsyth currently serves as the Lead Underwriter for Hull & Hull War. His remit in the new role will include being responsible for leading the growing Marine business which encompasses Cargo, Hull, Liability, Specie, and Yacht.

Forsyth will be based in London and report to Neil Walker, Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer and Head of Specialty Insurance.

Walker said: “Stuart is a proven leader, who combines a deep understanding of our business, with extensive market knowledge and expertise. I am confident that he will continue to strengthen our Marine offering for clients, and successfully drive our portfolio through its next phase of growth.

“His promotion reflects our commitment to nurturing internal talent and creating a culture where high-performers can advance their careers. I thank Laurence for his invaluable contribution to MS Amlin over the years, and wish him all the best for his retirement.”

Forsyth has more than 30 years of experience across underwriting and broking in the marine re/insurance market.

Prior to joining MS Amlin in 2021, he worked at RSA as London Market Hull and Liability Leader. Forsyth started his career at Willis Faber & Dumas, progressing to Divisional Director in 1996.

In 1998, he moved to Sedgwick’s Hull department specialising in Greek and North American Hull business.

During his twelve years as a broker, he gained extensive experience in both direct insurance and reinsurance, before serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Scottish Boatowners Mutual for 16 years.
