MSIG Asia, a general insurer operating in Southeast Asia and part of MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings (MS&AD), has appointed Ronak Shah as its Regional Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective October 1st, 2026.
Shah succeeds Clemens Philippi, who will transition as Co-Chief Strategy Officer of MS&AD in April 2026 to lead the Group’s International Business Strategy.
In his new role, Shah will lead MSIG Asia’s well-established operations across Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, India and Oceania, and assume regional leadership responsibility for Mainland China, Taiwan and Korea.
He will also be responsible for steering the regional direction, advancing MSIG Asia’s strategic priorities, accelerating business performance across key markets, strengthening regional collaboration, and deepening customer and partner engagement.
MSIG Asia explained that this expanded mandate reflects its commitment to greater strategic alignment across Asia Pacific, enabling stronger collaboration, enhanced execution, and accelerated growth, while delivering greater value to its customers, partners and stakeholders.
Most recently, Shah served as CEO of Wholesale Markets Asia at QBE Asia. At the firm, he has also, in the past, held several senior leadership positions, including country CEO of the Singapore business.
He has over two decades of experience in the insurance industry in Asia and North America, and has successfully led business transformation, strengthened specialty insurance capabilities, and built strong relationships with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders in these regions.
Hironori Morimoto, Group Chief Global Officer, Senior Managing Executive Officer, MS&AD, commented, “Ronak brings deep regional expertise, strategic insights and a strong track record of delivering results across complex and dynamic markets.
“We are confident he will build on MSIG’s strong heritage and presence across Asia, and lead MSIG Asia through its next phase of growth and value creation. We also thank Clemens for his contribution to the development of our Asia business, and I look forward to his continued leadership in his new role as the Group’s International Business Co-Chief Strategy Officer.”
Shah said, “MSIG Asia has built a successful business with a clear sense of purpose, and I’m proud to be stepping in at such an important point in its journey. The company has a strong platform – with talented teams, deep customer relationships and a clear ambition for what it can achieve across Asia Pacific.
“My focus is straightforward: sharpen our strategy, empower our people to execute with excellence, and create greater value for our customers and partners who count on us. The opportunity across this region is significant, and I intend to make the most of it.”
