The Nomination Committee of German reinsurance giant Munich Re has recommended that former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nikolaus von Bomhard be nominated for election as Chairman of the company’s Supervisory Board.
If elected, von Bomhard would take over the role of Chairman from Bernd Pischetsrieder, who is not standing for re-election and will leave the Supervisory Board of Munich Re at the end of the Annual General Meeting 2019.
Von Bomhard served as CEO of Munich Re from 2004 to 2017 and has been the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post DHL Group since April 2018.
The Nomination Committee also recommended that Karl-Heinz Streibich be nominated for appointment to the Supervisory Board, replacing Henning Kagermann who has also decided not to stand for re-election.
From October 2003 to August 2018, Streibich was Chairman of the Management Board of Software AG and is the President of acatech, the German Academy of Science and Engineering.
Munich Re said that the Supervisory Board’s decision regarding the recommended nominations will likely be made during the Supervisory Board meeting in March 2019.
