Munich Re names two new Executive Vice Presidents

Munich Re U.S. Life has announced Marc-André Giguère’s promotion to Executive Vice President (EVP) of Reinsurance, and Micheal Taht as newly promoted EVP of Research Analytics and Underwriting.

Marc Andre GiguerePrior to joining Munich Re in 2015, Giguère worked in the U.S. for 20 years with Ernst & Young and Towers Perrin.

Michael DeKoning, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Munich Re, U.S. (Life), commented on the promotions; “Munich Re is embracing industry disruption and working with our clients to drive the future of the life insurance industry.

“Mike and Marc’s deep experience and knowledge of the market is a tremendous asset to our clients and their teams are strongly positioned to provide exceptional technical expertise, consistent risk management, financial stability to our customers.”

As EVP of Research Analytics and Underwriting, Taht will be based out of Georgia and will assume oversight of all biometric research and integrated analytics efforts while continuing to oversee underwriting.

Michael TahtMunich Re said its advanced predictive analytics capabilities and mortality/morbidity expertise have been driving significant changes to streamline underwriting new life and disability insurance business, improve speed-to-market, and positively impact the customer experience.

Taht had previously been responsible for marketing and pricing for both the Individual Life and Living Benefits lines of business as well as the underwriting and medical department.

Before joining Munich Re in 2008, Taht was a Towers Perrin principal – where he focused on securitization of individual life business, mortality issues, and appraisals of both life reinsurance and life insurance companies.
