Solutions will involve: Collision Avoidance products, which warn of dangerous driving behaviours; Telematics, which record vehicle performance and driver statistics via in-vehicle devices; Advanced Fleet Monitoring, which assesses fleet performance using analytics; and individual Driver Coaching.

Mike Scrudato, Senior Vice President, Mobility at Munich Re, said: “Our Smart Mobility Program integrates technology and risk management solutions based on historical loss analysis to offer an innovative approach to the safety challenges faced by commercial fleet owners.

“Our partnerships with leading edge companies in telematics and crash avoidance, in conjunction with our LossDetect tool, help us identify ways to increase safety and reduce collisions for fleet owners and their employees.”

Munich Re believes the product will help to mitigate automotive accidents, as over 40,000 people were killed on U.S roads in 2017 alone, according to the National Safety Council.

The Smart Mobility Program will be made available to insurance company and broker clients, public entities, and small to mid-size companies with commercial fleets, while the LossDetect portal can be accessed by all commercial fleet owners as well as Munch Re America customers.
