Coalition, an active insurer focused on preventing digital risks, has appointed Matt Foster as its Head of London Markets.
In the role, Foster will serve as the lead underwriter for the London Market and complex risks, reporting to Stephen Wares, Head of International Underwriting.
Foster began his career as a Graduate Trainee in 2016 with industry giant Munich Re, he subsequently spent eight years underwriting cyber, and was promoted several times leading up to his most recent promotion to Senior Cyber Underwriter in January 2023.
Wares commented on the appointment, “Matt is stepping into an important role in expanding our UK business. He will play a central part in supporting our broker partners with complex UK risks and with London Market international wholesale business, as well as being a key leader of our underwriting team.”
This appointment follows Tom Draper’s promotion to UK Managing Director, as he takes on wider responsibility for Coalition’s UK operations, expanding from an insurance-focused role to a wider business role that involves managing over 30 UK-based employees. He will report directly to Kyle Byrant, Coalition’s Head of International.

Before joining Coalition, Draper spent time in cyber broking roles at Willis and Lockton, followed by ten years as a Technology and Cyber Practice Leader at Gallagher.
Coalition continues to expand its global presence with new hires across Europe, in September, former Aon cyber client director Philip Cruickshank joined Coalition’s Manchester team as a Regional Development Underwriter, and in October, Tine Simonsen joined as Coalition’s European Head of Insurance.
