Insurance and reinsurance specialist Neon has announced the hiring of Richard Heppell, previously of MS Amlin Underwriting Ltd., as its new Chief Financial Officer.
Heppell oversaw the integration of the Amlin and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Lloyd’s syndicates, and was previously the Finance Director at Mitsui Sumitomo.
Before that he held a range of senior corporate finance roles at QBE.
Heppell has more than 30 years of finance experience within the insurance sector, bringing to Neon extensive experience of supporting the growth and development of Lloyd’s underwriting businesses.
He will oversee Neon’s finance function at a key time as it continues to grow.
Martin Reith, Neon Group Chief Executive commented on the hire, “I am thrilled to welcome Richard to Neon, where his experience of multifaceted integrations and business transformation will contribute directly to us achieving our strategic aspirations. His track-record shows continued delivery in the management of high performing finance functions for Lloyd’s businesses and this knowledge will prove valuable as we continue on our exciting trajectory.
“I look forward to Richard joining our Executive Committee, where we continue to invest in accessing the best quality business and capitalise on the considerable pipeline of opportunities we have identified.”
Heppell joins Neon at a time of growth and expansion, following its move into Bermuda in 2016, acquisition of Sapphire Underwriters, launch of Neon Italy, and the establishment of joint venture MGAs Tarian and Chord Re, in partnership with investor Beat Capital in 2017.
