Nielsen appointed CFO of Hiscox London Market & Hiscox Syndicates

Global specialist insurer and reinsurer Hiscox has named Christian Nielsen as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Hiscox London Market and Hiscox Syndicates Limited.

Christian NielsenCurrently, Nielsen serves as CFO at Hiscox UK and as a Director of Hiscox Insurance Company Limited (HIC), the group’s UK carrier.

He first joined the firm in 2015 from Barclays, where he held numerous senior roles, including Head of Barclays Finance, Cost & Analytics and Finance Director for Barclaycard UK.

Since joining, Nielsen has played a vital role in delivering numerous critical regulatory and operational initiatives for the business, including HIC’s Solvency II implementation and also its preparations for Brexit, which included sponsoring the Part VII transfer of the European insurance business from HIC to Hiscox Société Anonyme (HSA), the firm’s newly-created European carrier.

Outside of his role in the UK, Nielsen is a Hiscox Partner, a member of the Group’s Finance Leadership Team, and also an active member of the Steering Committee for the Group-wide Finance Transformation Programme.

He is set to join the Hiscox London Market team in September of this year, and will report to Kate Markham, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hiscox London Market. In his capacity as CFO for Hiscox Syndicates Limited, he will report to Hiscox Group CFO, Aki Hussain.
