Niyam Group, an Indian-focused reinsurance platform, has announced the appointment of Babita Rai as Global Head of International Business.
Rai brings more than two decades of global reinsurance experience and an extensive market network to the role. She joined Niyam from Tysers Singapore, where she served as Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director, following an earlier stint as Managing Director.
The executive’s career also includes roles at JB Boda Group, considered India’s pioneer and oldest independent reinsurance and insurance broking house, and Guy Carpenter.
She also spent an eight-year tenure at UIB Asia Reinsurance Brokers, where she held a number of positions increasing in responsibility, including Broker Treaty Division, Manager Treaty Division, and Senior Manager.
In her new position, Rai will focus on expanding Niyam’s international footprint and championing Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) as an emerging worldwide reinsurance destination.
“From the beginning, our ambition has been clear: to build Niyam as an Indian business serving India and other high-growth markets of Asia and Africa. Babita’s appointment represents another important step towards making that ambition a reality,” a Niyam Group spokesperson commented.
