Obsidian Insurance Holdings, Inc., a program fronting insurance holding company recently launched by Genstar Capital and insurance industry executives, has appointed Andrew Aldorisio as its Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO).

Most recently, Aldorisio served as Vice President, Program Business at SCOR, where he managed casualty and professional lines programs and led business development for SCOR Re’s primary insurance Programs Business Unit.

Previously, he served as Vice President and Program Underwriter at Munich Re America, where he led all Alternative Risk Transfer programs in the unit including captive programs and RRG’s.

Aldorisio began his career at Arch Insurance Group in the company’s alternative markets group.

In his new role at Obsidian, Aldorisio will be responsible for managing program underwriting and due diligence to ensure growth and profitability of the portfolio.

“We are excited to have Andrew join our team and bring his technical underwriting expertise and extensive program insurance experience to our platform,” said Obsidian CEO William Jewett.

“His addition continues the buildout of our hybrid program fronting carrier platform that will continue to bring creative, valuable, and efficient marketplace solutions to MGAs, risk aggregators, and reinsurers,” Jewett continued.

“Andrew’s experience and skillset will further enhance and broaden Obsidian’s underwriting capabilities as we continue to be a valued partner to those operating within the rapidly evolving program space.”

Obsidian was formed earlier this year by Genstar and a team of insurance industry executives.

It currently includes Craig Rappaport as Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer, Emily Canelo as Chief Legal Counsel, and Stacy Armstrong as Chief Client Officer.

Obsidian had previously hired Dan Larkin as its CUO, who had previously held senior roles at Allianz, PartnerRe and AXA Reinsurance. However, in September it was reported that Larkin had departed Obsidian to rejoin Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS).
