PartnerRe CEO Clarke succeeds Kevin O’Donnell, the CEO of RenaissanceRe, who became Chairman of the GRF in 2018.

The appointment of Clarke was made at a recent meeting of the GRF, during which Jean-Jacques Henchoz, CEO of Hannover Re, was elected Vice Chairman.

Clarke commented: “As businesses, people and governments battle with the Covid-19 situation and its deeper ramifications, the global reinsurance industry has the opportunity and responsibility to leverage its expertise in risk management and resilience building for the benefit of our societies and economies.

Henchoz added: “It is a privilege to serve as the GRF’s Vice Chair. As globalisation is receding and with protectionism on the rise, the Forum’s mission to promote an open and fair framework for global reinsurance markets and raise the understanding of the value of reinsurance to economies and societies, is more important than ever.”
