Bermuda-based reinsurer, PartnerRe has announced the appointment of Thomas Smith as Head of Global Clients and Broker Management.
He will succeed Fiona Mitchell who is leaving the reinsurance industry.
Commenting on the appointment, James Beedle, CEO P&C APAC, Partner Re, said: “Tom has over 20 years’ experience at PartnerRe. His deep understanding of the re/insurance industry and his well-established relationships will be valuable assets to the team as we continue to deliver optimised solutions to our global clients and brokers.”
Mitchell is leaving the reinsurance industry after almost two decades. Her last tenure with PartnerRe lasted over two years, having joined the company in 2021 as an Account Executive before becoming Head of Global Clients and Brokers.

The news of Smith’s appointment comes shortly after PartnerRe named Sylvain Jarrier as Group Chief Underwriter Officer.
Jarrier has also been with the company for two decades, having joined the firm in 2003 as a Property & Casualty Pricing Actuary before being appointed to the role of Motor & Casualty Senior Underwriter.
Throughout his tenure at PartnerRe, Jarrier has also held several other roles, including Head Pricing & Analytics – Europe, MEAR & APAC, and Head Worldwide Pricing & Analytics.
