Pen Underwriting has announced the launch of a new regional claims hub in Chelmsford dedicated to managing commercial property and liability claims, appointing Paul Clayton as Senior Claims Handler, and naming Simon Jenkinson and Annahita Mansourpour as Technical Claims Team Leaders.
Pen suggests that this new hub will complement its existing team of specialists in Manchester, enabling the firm to draw on a wider talent pool aligned with regional insurance hubs and provide clear pathways for career development as it looks to further enhance its in-house claims capabilities as a virtual insurer.
Clayton, who has been named as a Senior Claims Handler specialising in large and complex liability losses, holds more than two decades of experience in casualty claims and is a graduate of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
He joins Pen from MS Amlin, where he held a similar role, resolving EL and PL claims, as well as those arising from third-party property damage.
Jenkinson, who has been named as Technical Claims Team Leader – Liability, also holds over two decades of experience as a complex and large loss practitioner, managing and settling a range of claims from EL and PL, to product recall and medical malpractice.
He also joins Pen from MS Amlin, where he spent the past 17 years, which included 6 on the complex and large loss team as a casualty adjuster.
Jenkinson will be responsible for heading up Pen’s technical capabilities and strategy in this area, including policy indemnity, team training, strategic negotiation and claims resolution.
Mansourpour, who has been appointed Technical Claims Team Leader – Property, brings more than 10 years of experience in claims management as a technical specialist.
She began her insurance career as a major loss graduate at Cunningham Lindsey in 2009, before spending seven years at Aviva. She joins Pen from the insurance solutions division of Verisk.
Pen suggests that Mansourpour’s experience as a case manager in technical claims services, combined with her skills in claims handler training, product ownership and analytics, provide her with a strong blend of credentials to lead its team of property claims technical specialists.
Matt Hope, Commercial Property & Liability Claims Manager at Pen Underwriting, commented, “We couldn’t be happier that Simon, Anna and Paul have chosen to join Pen, as we move forward with one dedicated team for property and liability claims across two locations.
“Such depth of knowledge and experience across both claims disciplines does not come to market very often, especially from a technical standpoint in dealing with complex claims.
“They are all fantastic additions to our wider team, and will be brilliant support for new joiners as we build out our new hub in Chelmsford and expand the team further in the new year.”
Billy Hinken, Claims Director at Pen Underwriting, added, “We recognise that in this competitive market, talent has choice. That’s why, at Pen, we pour just as much energy into creating an environment that is collaborative and supportive, and one where progression is always possible, as we do in offering challenging and rewarding work.
“We know that to get the best claims outcomes for our brokers and their clients, it is not enough to recruit the right skill sets, with the right experience. Our colleagues need to share our problem-solving approach and have a real passion for claims – just as Simon, Anna and Paul do.”
