Independent specialist (re)insurance broker Miller has appointed Peter Stubbings as Chairman of Miller Bermuda, where he will support the continued growth of the firm’s reinsurance and retrocession offering in the Bermuda market as it further strengthens its presence on the island.

Drawing on his long-standing relationships with reinsurance clients, Miller said that Stubbings will also support new business generation by facilitating cross-selling opportunities between AHJ Miller, Miller’s reinsurance division, and the wider Miller Bermuda business.

Stubbings brings more than four decades of experience in the reinsurance industry, spanning multiple lines of business and a broad network of client relationships across London, Bermuda, the Caribbean and the Nordics.

He joins Miller from McGill and Partners, where he served as Bermuda CEO from 2023, and was previously UK&I CEO of Aon’s Global Re Specialty (GRS) division. Before that, he spent 14 years at Guy Carpenter, serving first as CEO EMEA and then as CEO Bermuda.

James Hands, Group CEO at Miller, commented, “Peter’s appointment is another significant milestone in the expansion of our Bermuda team and in the buildout of our rapidly growing reinsurance proposition.

“His 40+ years of industry experience, impressive track record of international leadership, and long-standing client relationships across multiple jurisdictions will prove hugely valuable to our growth in this critical destination for global (re)insurance business. We’re delighted to have Peter on board.”

Stubbings added, “It’s a pleasure to be joining Miller at this exciting time of expansion for both our Bermuda business and our global reinsurance capabilities.

“Miller’s well-earned reputation for deep market specialism, client service excellence, and product innovation made this a uniquely attractive opportunity, and we’re greatly energised by the growth potential for our insurance, reinsurance and retrocession offerings on the island and beyond.”
