Marsh, the insurance broker and risk advisory business of Marsh McLennan, has announced that Rob Powell has resumed his role as Global Chief Claims Officer, based in London and reporting to Pat Donnelly, President, Marsh Specialty and Global Placement.
In October 2023, it was announced that Powell would be leaving Marsh to take up the role of Global Chief Claims Officer at WTW.
Donnelly commented, “I am delighted that Rob has decided to stay at Marsh. Marsh’s global claims advocacy team is widely regarded as one of the most highly skilled and respected in the insurance industry, with an unrelenting focus on securing a swift and equitable resolution for our clients.”
Powell’s remit in the role includes leading Marsh’s team of several hundred claims advocates around the world, which includes specialised claims management and forensic advisory services.
He is also responsible for driving innovation in the claims resolution process, which includes the development of data-led and analytic solutions and the adoption of new technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Powell joined Marsh in 2014. Prior to this, he was Global Chief Claims Officer at Torus Insurance, and was President of Cunningham Lindsey International from 2001-2006.
Powell has more than 30 years of experience in international loss adjusting, including on some of the insurance industry’s most significant and complex global catastrophic losses.
Powell concluded, “How insurance supports clients in the event of a claim is often the standard on which our industry is judged; it is also a fundamental tenet on which Marsh has built its truly market-leading global claims proposition. I look forward to working with Pat and the team and, in particular, focusing on the deployment of new solutions that enhance our clients’ claims experience.”
