Placing Platform Limited has announced that Mark Griffith has been appointed to take on the role of Chief Information Officer.

He is set to join the business in January 2024, where he will report to Joe Gordon, PPL CEO.

In his new role, Griffith is set to assume overall responsibility for PPL’s project delivery as the organisation looks to accelerate its digital strategy, working with in-house teams and partners to execute this.

It has also been confirmed, that Griffith will be accountable for the company’s technology platforms, both in the selection of technologies and in their management.

Griffith joins PPL from Ebix Europe, where he served as the firm’s Delivery Director.

Before he joined Ebix, Griffith spent 25 years working in change and technology leadership roles in the London insurance market, as well as various other insurance and financial services firms.

Addressing his appointment, Griffith, said: “I’m delighted to be joining PPL at such an exciting time for them, and for the whole London Market. I am also looking forward to joining the great team who work at PPL as we deliver technology and solutions to help consolidate the London Market’s position as the best place in the world to trade insurance.”

Joe Gordon, CEO of Placing Platform Limited, commented: “I’m thrilled to welcome Mark to PPL as our new CIO. His proven track record in delivering placement technology, and in understanding and supporting the needs of London Market insurers and brokers will be instrumental as we focus on rapidly evolving and extending our Next Gen platform.”

In related news, Placing Platform Limited recently confirmed that, as planned, the next phase of the shutdown of the old PPL platform is set to go ahead in one month’s time, on December 15.

The PPL Next Gen platform went live for the London market in March 2023, following several delays to its roll-out. The platform was then opened to placements for the entire market in early April.
