Praedicat adds former Zurich CUO & ex Director of Validus to its Board

Praedicat, an InsurTech analytics company for property and casualty insurers and global industrial businesses, has appointed the retired Chief Underwriting Officer of Zurich North America, Mary Merkel, and former Director of Strategy for Validus Holdings, John Hendrickson, to its Board.

Commenting on her appointment, Merkel praised Praedicat’s vision for the future of underwriting, saying “I’m looking forward to applying my expertise and underwriting knowledge to help clients evaluate risks using Praedicat’s proprietary data and analytics.”

Merkel, who retired from Zurich Insurance Company in 2016, served as Chief Underwriting Officer for Zurich North America. In this role she led the development of the underwriting strategy for the United States and Canada.

“The global insurance industry is changing rapidly, and Praedicat’s science-based approach to modeling represents an important innovation opportunity” added Hendrickson, who recently served as Director of Strategy for Validus Holdings, and was a director from the time of its formation in 2005.
