QBE has announced that it has appointed James Purkis as Market Management Executive, where he will help drive the distribution strategy across Continental Europe.
Currently, Purkis serves as Distribution Manager for the London Market.
QBE has confirmed that he will start his new role on January 1, 2024, where he will report to Head of Distribution for Continental Europe, Fabian Desch.
Purkis will be based in London to begin with when he starts his new role, but from April 2024 he will be based in Madrid.
Overall, Purkis has 35 years of experience across the insurance industry.
Previously in his career, he spent 15 years underwriting at Aviva, as well as 12 years in corporate placement at Marsh.
He joined the QBE Client team in 2015, before later moving on to Distribution where he led teams across the South of England and most recently the London Market.
Reporting to Desch, Purkis will help develop a distribution strategy connecting Continental European countries through strategic plans.
QBE has also confirmed that he will play a key role in driving greater visibility for the company in local markets through targeted broker and client engagement.
