Business insurer QBE has hired Alistair Nappin from Munich Re to serve as its new Head of Outward Reinsurance for its International Division, based in London.

Nappin, who joins QBE next year, subject to regulatory approvals, will report to Stephanie Cryer, Chief Underwriting Officer, QBE International, and will take over responsibility for the firm’s reinsurance strategy in the UK, Europe, and Asia.

He brings almost two decades of insurance industry experience to QBE, and joins from Munich Re, one of the world’s largest reinsurance companies, where he currently serves as Head of Ceded Reinsurance and Chief Underwriting Officer of Underwriting Strategy for its Global Specialty Insurance unit.

Prior to Munich Re, Nappin spent more than nine years with Watkins Syndicate as a Catastrophe Risk Manager, and previously worked at what was then Aon Benfield as a Catastrophe Modelling Analyst.

“I am delighted to welcome Alistair to QBE. His deep experience and expertise will be a tremendous asset to our team, and I look forward to the contribution he will make to our continued success,” said Cryer.
