Australian re/insurer QBE has appointed Fiona Larnach to the role of Group Chief Risk Officer.
Larnach has nearly 30 years of experience working across risk management, finance and treasury.
She has held a number of senior executive roles at numerous Australian and UK financial service companies, and was most recently the Chief Risk Officer for Barclays UK.
Larnach previously worked as Chief Risk Officer, Retail Banking for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Prior to this, she held the position of Risk Advisory Partner at Ernst & Young consulting to insurance, banking and wealth management clients.
Larnach will join QBE in March and be based in the company’s head office in Sydney, Australia.
She will form part of the Group Executive Committee and report to Interim Group CEO, Richard Pryce.
This appointment follows Peter Grewal’s decision to return to the UK and will be subject to regulatory approval.
Pryce commented: “We have worked hard in recent years to build our risk capability with good risk management practices now firmly embedded in our day-to-day operations.”
“We are delighted to welcome Fiona to QBE. She brings a unique combination of skills and experience that will help us to further evolve our risk management practice.
“On behalf of the Group Executive Committee, I would like to thank Peter for his contribution to QBE and wish him well for the future.”
