Global insurer QBE Insurance Group has confirmed the appointment of Julie Wood as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company’s North American division, a role she has held on an interim basis since August.
Wood joined QBE Insurance in January of this year as Group Head of Distribution. She takes over as CEO of the North America division from Todd Jones.
Her appointment remains subject to regulatory approval. Wood remains on QBE’s Group Executive Committee, and she will be reporting to Andrew Horton, QBE North America Group CEO.
Horton commented, “Julie brings deep industry expertise with a strong customer focus, underwriting expertise and knowledge of the North America market.”
Prior to QBE, Wood worked at broker Marsh as Southeast Partnership & Zonal Leader and served as a member of the company’s US Executive Committee. She also worked as Marsh’s Zonal Casualty leader in Atlanta.
Wood also spent more than 15 years serving in senior roles at Zurich Insurance Group, including global customer relationship management and underwriting leadership.
“We have the right strategy in place for our North America business and Julie will continue our focus on our three core insurance segments of Crop, Specialty and Commercial.
“Her appointment highlights the bench strength of high caliber leaders within QBE and reflects the focus we have on talent and leadership,” added Horton.
