Reinsurance Broker Ed appoints new Underwriting CEO

Reinsurance broker, Ed, has named Gary Corke, as the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Underwriting.

Corke, who is joining Ed from SHA Specialist Underwriters, will start his new role in February, and report to Group CEO Steve Hearn.

As CEO of Ed’s Underwriting, Corke will head up the firm’s global Managing General Agents (MGA) and develop an integrated global MGA business unit.

Corke commented that the opportunity to build a global MGA business as part of the Ed Group was “impossible to pass up.”

“There is a clear vision and ambition for what this business can become and there is an exceptional base from which to build. I am relishing the prospect.”

In addition to serving as CEO of SHA, the largest casualty MGA in Africa, Corke co-founded Emerald Underwriting Mangers and held the position of CEO for fourteen years.

During his tenure, Corke built Emerald Underwriting Managers into the largest property MGA in Africa.
