Aeolus Capital Management Ltd., the Bermuda domiciled reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) focused investment fund manager, has announced the appointment of Aditya Dutt as Partner and President.
It was announced last week that Dutt, who currently serves as Senior Vice President (SVP) of RenaissanceRe (RenRe) and President of Renaissance Underwriting Managers, Ltd., would be leaving the reinsurer to pursue a new opportunity.
It’s now been revealed that following a period of gardening leave from RenRe, he will join Aeolus as a Partner and President and will also be elected as a member of the Aeolus Board.
In his roles at RenRe, Dutt leads the reinsurer’s ILS and third-party capital management businesses, which includes DaVinci Re, Top Layer Re, Upsilon Fund, Medici Fund, Vermeer Re, and the company’s Langhorne Re joint venture with Reinsurance Group of America.
In addition, he manages RenRe’s portfolio of strategic investments, and previously served as the firm’s Corporate Treasurer and Head of Investor Relations. Before joining RenRe, Dutt was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley and Salomon Brothers.
Since 2017, Aeolus has been owned by a partnership among the Aeolus Partners, entities controlled by Elliott Management Corporation and the Operating Principals of Wand Partners. In this partnership structure, Aeolus says that it has excelled and strengthened its franchise by delivering robust risk adjusted performance in difficult market conditions.
Commenting on the appointment of Dutt, the company’s Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Andrew Bernstein, said: “I am delighted to welcome Aditya to the Aeolus partnership. By adding this outstanding, experienced and innovative leader, Aeolus is further strengthening its capabilities as a premier manager of reinsurance risk.”
