Legacy reinsurance and run-off specialist RiverStone International has entered into loss portfolio transfer (LPT) agreements with QBE Insurance Group, representing approximately US$1.6 billion in reserves, further strengthening the long-standing partnership between both companies.
Subject to regulatory approval, the transactions cover North American Middle Market and Workers’ Compensation portfolios, and European liability books.
Paul Brockman, Group Chief Executive Officer of RiverStone International, said: “We are pleased to have entered into these transactions with QBE Insurance Group, further strengthening a long-standing relationship built on delivering tailored legacy solutions across multiple lines of business and jurisdictions.
“These transactions demonstrate the breadth of RiverStone International’s capabilities and the strength of our global platform in providing finality and certainty for complex long-tail liabilities. We look forward to continuing our partnership with QBE.”
The transactions with QBE Insurance Group represents RiverStone’s latest 2026 deal, building on a busy year of activity.
Previous 2026 deals include two LPT reinsurance agreements Pacific Valley Insurance Company, a wholly owned captive insurance subsidiary of the ride sharing company Lyft, one in July and one in March.
In March 2026, the company also launched in Australia through the acquisition of a locally domiciled insurer and legacy portfolio transaction with global insurance carrier Zurich.
