Global non-life specialty insurer R&Q Insurance Holdings Ltd, has announced the appointment of Jerome Lande as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.
Lande is an experienced board member with over two decades of leadership experience as an investor. He currently serves as Managing Partner and Deputy CIO at Scopia Capital Management.
In 2012, Lande co-founded Coppersmith Capital Management, where he was managing partner and portfolio manager until it combined with Scopia in 2016.
Prior to Coppersmith, he spent twelve years with Millbrook Capital Management, Inc. as a Partner, and before that, he was an Associate at D. E. Shaw & Co.
Headquartered in Bermuda, R&Q operates licensed insurance companies around the world to provide legacy and program management solutions.
The company recently reported a pre-tax operating loss of $33.3m in FY2022, impacted by $32m of adverse development and the transition to a fee-based revenue model at R&Q Legacy.
This has been despite seeing strong growth in its Accredited business in the year, with its Gross Written Premiums growing to $1.8bn in 2022, a 76% increase from the previous year.
