RSA Insurance, a leading global insurance provider, has announced the appointment of Matt Houghton as the new Head of Financial Risks for its Mid-Market Commercial Lines business.
This strategic move reinforces RSA’s commitment to managing and mitigating financial risks effectively in today’s dynamic business landscape.
In his new role, Houghton will assume responsibility for overseeing the financial risks portfolio within the Professional & Financial Risks team (ProFin).
With over 15 years of experience as a financial lines underwriter, Houghton is well-equipped to navigate the evolving financial landscape.
Houghton’s career journey has seen him excel in prominent roles within the insurance sector. He initiated his career at CNA and subsequently joined Chubb as a Financial Lines Underwriter.
His tenure at Chubb spanned more than seven years before he joined Aviva in 2017. At Aviva, he held several positions, culminating in his role as Specialty Lines Underwriting Manager.
Houghton’s extensive experience, coupled with his deep understanding of financial risks, makes him a valuable addition to the RSA team.
He is expected to contribute significantly to RSA’s efforts to meet the growing demand for high-quality financial lines coverage in a world characterised by technological advancements, economic uncertainties, and emerging risks.
Reporting directly to Jo Darkins, ProFin Director at RSA Insurance, Houghton will be based in Manchester and commence his new role in October.
Darkins expressed her enthusiasm for Houghton’s appointment, highlighting his technical proficiency and market knowledge as assets that will complement the team’s existing strengths.
She emphasised the importance of having the right cover, products, and expertise in place, given the increasing significance of these factors for companies of all sizes.
