Santam Re, the reinsurance division of South African insurer Santam, has announced the appointment of Izabela Stofberg as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO).
Stofberg will take on the new role as part of its ongoing focus on underwriting expertise and reinsurance capabilities.
She brings extensive experience across the reinsurance and insurance sectors. She has been with Santam since 2019, most recently serving as Cluster Market Head for Europe, Turkey and Partnerships.
Prior to this, she held the position of Territorial Head of Reinsurance (Treaty) for Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey, where she was responsible for managing treaty reinsurance activities across those markets.
Before joining Santam, Stofberg worked at Everest Reinsurance Company as an Engineering & Construction Underwriter, gaining experience in specialist underwriting. Earlier in her career, she spent more than eight years at Willis Re, progressing to Divisional Director and working within the global engineering treaty team.
Santam Re said Stofberg’s appointment reflects the company’s continued investment in leadership and underwriting capability as it supports clients and partners across its reinsurance operations.
