Dr Martin Weldi has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer of HDI International AG, the Retail International Division of the Talanx Group, succeeding Oliver Schmid who is retiring after more than 22 years with the Group.

Schmid will retire on 30 November 2026, having spent 16 years as Chief Financial Officer of HDI International AG; he will also step down from the Board of Management of HDI International AG.

From 1 December 2026, he will be succeeded by Dr Weldi, currently Head of Group Corporate Development at Talanx AG.

“I would like to thank Oliver Schmid for his many years of excellent work in the Talanx Group. He initially drove the development of our Group Controlling function and, since 2010, has played a key role in shaping HDI International’s highly successful, profitable growth path as Chief Financial Officer, with his extensive expertise in finance and risk management,” Torsten Leue, Chairman of the Board of Management of Talanx AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HDI International AG, commented.

He continued: “With his open and approachable personality he has also helped to shape our decentralised corporate culture. I wish him all the very best for his personal future.”

Schmid’s successor, Dr Weldi, will oversee the ongoing growth of HDI International while continue to elevate the Division’s finance and risk management functions.

Weldi has held senior positions in the Talanx Group for more than 10 years. He initially headed the Motor Claims unit of HDI Germany and HDI Global in Germany and then, in 2018, took over as Head of Group Corporate Development at Talanx AG, with responsibility for Group strategy and the areas of M&A, Investor Relations, Sustainability and, most recently, Group Communications.

Furthermore, he served on the Supervisory Board of HDI International AG from 2018 to 2025 and has been Chief Financial Officer of HDI AG since 2025.

Prior to his time with the Talanx Group, he gained many years of experience in the insurance sector at a top management consultancy.

Dr Wilm Langenbach, member of the Board of Management of Talanx AG responsible for the Retail International Division and Chief Executive Officer of HDI International AG, commented: “I am very pleased that, in Martin Weldi, we have an extremely experienced, highly professional successor who is very familiar with the Talanx Group and HDI International. His technical expertise and experience will provide us with the best possible support in the next phase of HDI International’s development. I am very much looking forward to working with him.”

Leue said: “With his strategic and financial skills and his collaborative leadership culture, Martin Weldi is a perfect fit for HDI International. The Board of Management team is therefore very well positioned to tackle the strategic growth opportunities of the future.”

From 1 December 2026, the Board of Management of HDI International will comprise the following members: Dr Wilm Langenbach (Chief Executive Officer), Nicolas Masjuan (Latin America), Christian Müller (Europe) and Dr Martin Weldi (Finance).

The appointment is subject to the customary approval by the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority.

Bernd Sablowsky and Dr Jan-Philipp Lüdtke—both of whom have served successfully as executives within Group Corporate Development for several years—will assume Dr Martin Weldi’s former responsibilities in the division.

Sablowsky will oversee Investor Relations, M&A, and external communications for Talanx AG, while Dr Lüdtke will lead Group Strategy & Sustainability alongside additional communications functions.
