SCOR Global Life appoints leadership for newly combined teams

SCOR Global Life, a division of the France-headquartered reinsurer, has announced the leadership structure for its newly combined Global Markets and Client Solutions teams.

SCORThe company revealed that David O’Brien has been promoted to Deputy Head of Global Markets and Head of Client Relationships, while Christopher Smith has become Head of Global Financial Solutions, and Barthélemy Philippe will expand his role to Head of Client Solutions.

O’Brien was formerly the Group Head of Financial Solutions and Longevity, and will now retain responsibility for these product lines while also covering client relationships across SCOR Global Life and ensuring that the company’s strategy meets the needs of its clients.

He joined SCOR in 2011 with the acquisition of Transamerica Re and relocated to Singapore in 2013 to lead SCOR Global Life’s Asia Pacific business, before taking up his most recent position in 2015.

In his new role, O’Brien is based in London and will report to Brona Magee, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Head of Global Markets at SCOR Global Life.

Smith also joined SCOR in 2011 following the acquisition of Transamerica Re, and has since served the company as Head of Group Corporate Finance in Paris.

At Transamerica Re, he was responsible for capital market solutions, and previously held senior positions in private equity, investment banking and telecommunications.

Smith will now lead SCOR Global Life’s Financial Solutions product line strategy globally from his base in London, reporting to O’Brien.

Finally, Philippe will now focus on the development of new Propositions in addition to his current responsibilities for Health Solutions as General Manager and Chief Agent for SCOR Global Life Canada.

He joined SCOR Global Life as Global Head of Strategy and Development in 2013 and previously worked as a consultant for a global strategy firm, and as a Vice-President for a global Venture Capital fund.

In his new role, Philippe is based in Paris and will also report to Magee, who commented on the appointments: “By combining the Global Markets and Client Solutions teams under one leadership structure, SCOR Global Life is creating a powerful team to further increase the value we add to peoples’ lives across the globe.”

“This new organization will focus on working with our clients to deliver life-changing solutions, bringing protection and peace of mind to more consumers and working to improve the health outcomes of in-force policyholders,” she explained.
