SCOR Global Life Australia has appointed Debra Pitcher as chief underwriter and Dr John Cummins as chief medical officer as it builds its team to expand local operations, the Financial Standard reported.
Pitcher will assume responsibility for the Australia and New Zealand life reinsurance underwriting strategy and focus on developing client solutions.
She brings 30 years’ re/insurance industry experience to the role, and joins from her last position as chief underwriter at AMP for over five years.
Pitcher has worked in senior underwriting positions at AXA Australia and New Zealand, Swiss Re and National Mutual.
Dr Cummins is the founder and principal of a preventative medicine practice designed for executives and self-employed business owners, Executive Medicine.
His work focuses on preventative medicine specifically to do with management of cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
Chief executive Dion Russell commented that Cummins’ expertise will build an even stronger foundation for research and innovation for SCOR to be at the forefront of medical advancements and the impacts to life insurance.
