Swiss reinsurer SIGNAL IDUNA Reinsurance Ltd (SI Re), headquartered in Zug, has recently announced the promotion of Dr. Robert Salzmann to the position of Head of Underwriting, effective from 1 October 2023.
In his new role, Dr. Salzmann will report directly to the company’s CEO and will also assume responsibility for Assumed Reinsurance (ARI) in addition to SI Re ILS Markets & Retrocession.

Wollner, CEO of SI Re, expressed his satisfaction with this appointment, saying, “We are pleased that Robert Salzmann, a longstanding and experienced employee of our company, has assumed the management of our Underwriting department. We are convinced that he will successfully further expand our Underwriting operations.”
Dr. Salzmann’s journey within SI Re began in 2014 when he joined as an actuary. He was subsequently appointed as Head of Pricing and ILS Analytics in 2017.
In 2019, Dr. Salzmann took over the management of SI Re ILS Markets & Retrocession.
Prior to his tenure at SI Re, he served at KPMG in 2012 as Assistant Manager in the Quantitative Finance Group, where he worked with global investment banks and insurance companies.
