Somerset Re CEO, Danish Iqbal, has been appointed to the Bermuda Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers (BILTIR) Board of Directors, effective November 1, 2025.
Iqbal, who recently returned to Somerset Re, has held a variety of senior roles in the life re/insurance industry, working on pricing, valuation, risk, and ALM.
Before rejoining the firm, he served as Chief Actuary at Aspida Re (formerly F&G Re).
There, he was responsible for all actuarial functions and led F&G Re’s sale process to Ares Management Corporation.
He has also previously held a variety of traditional and non-traditional actuarial roles in the U.S.
Somerset Re noted that Iqbal’s appointment underscores its commitment to supporting Bermuda’s life and annuity sector and contributing positively to the island’s community, economy, and environment.
