Sompo appoints VP’s for U.S Insurance Business Development

Sompo International has appointed Jonathan Monks and Ben Tasse as Senior Vice Presidents, Business Development, for the company’s U.S Insurance platform.

Sompo International logoMonks and Tasse will now work to develop the platform’s interactions with key U.S distribution markets and build broker/agent relationships, and will report to Chris Sparro, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of U.S Insurance.

Monks will focus specifically on retail distribution partners while Tasse will work with wholesale partners, although both be based in Sompo’s New York City office.

Monks joined Sompo from AIG, where he most recently served as Managing Director of the company’s Property & Casualty (P&C) New York region, and prior to this was Senior Vice President in Marsh’s Private Equity and Mergers & Acquisitions Services team.

He brings over 20 years’ experience in managing strategic relationships and large account distribution to his new senior position at Sompo.

Prior to his latest appointment, Tasse served AXIS Capital since 2009, a term that culminated in his most recent position as Vice President, Professional Liability Underwriter and Manager within Axis’ Private Equity and Venture Capital Team.

Sparro commented on the appointments: “With Jon and Ben assuming these new roles in our U.S. Insurance operation, we will be able to build on their experience and producer networks to further expand our presence in the markets we service.

“As we continue to add new talent and specialty capabilities to our organization, we look forward to broadening our distribution network, developing new strategic initiatives and strengthening existing partnerships.”
