Bermuda-based specialty property and casualty re/insurance firm Sompo International has announced that Mike Connelly will join the Sompo International Reinsurance team as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Global Reinsurance.
Connelly previously served as CFO, Specialty Commercial at The Hartford, a role he held since 2017.
Prior to this he spent six years as Vice President, Enterprise Financial & Investment Planning & Analysis at MassMutual Financial Group.
In this role, Connelly led the transformation of enterprise planning process and tools including investment income through tactical changes and technology solutions for a company with $30 billion in revenue.
Between 2010 and 2012, Connelly held another role at The Hartford as CFO, Retirement Plans, in which he led all financial and actuarial activities.
Before this, he worked as Vice President, Investor Relations & Corporate Finance at Travelers between 2005 and 2009, leading the day-to-day management of institutional investor relations and senior financial enterprise-wide projects.
Previous roles also include Vice President, Strategic Planning & Analysis at Citi, and another 7-year stint at Travelers in which Connelly held various positions.
“With nearly 30 years of industry experience, Mike has expertise leading all aspects of finance, risk and strategy,” Sompo stated.
