Starr Aviation, a division of Starr Technical Risks Agency, Inc. and within Starr Insurance Companies, is set to make accommodations under its general aviation policies to extend some training and medical-certification deadlines for insured pilots.
The move comes in response to the social distancing measures that have been implemented across the world in an effort to stop the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Starr Insurance Companies says that it has decided to extend certain policies for insured pilots until social distancing mandates are lifted.
To assist its aviation policyholders during this challenging time, until June 30th, 2020, the company will not consider a policyholder to have breached its responsibilities under an applicable aircraft policy based just on their inability to meet certain training obligations, or to comply with certain medical certificate duration standards.
Steve Blakey, President of Starr Insurance, commented: “We quickly saw that Covid-19 mitigation efforts could affect pilots whose policies require an annual training event and pilots subject to regulatory aviation requirements. We responded by building in time so our policyholders don’t risk losing their coverage.”
