New York-based law firm Stroock has appointed Huhnsik Chung, former head of Baker McKenzie’s North America Insurance practice, as a partner in its insurance and reinsurance practice.
Chung has previously served as lead counsel in more than 70 re/insurance industry disputes related to domestic and international arbitrations and judicial proceedings, and provides regulatory, licensing, and structuring advice on InsurTechs, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), insurance-linked securities (ILS), wrap-up insurance, and new product development.
As part of Stroock’s insurance litigation team, he will now represent a range of global re/insurers in matters of high-exposure reinsurance, complex coverage and bad faith disputes, and consumer class actions.
Co-led by Robert Lewin and Michele Jacobson, Stroock’s insurance team also executes transactional work like insurance industry M&A, complex reinsurance transactions, and regulatory matters.

Chung will be joined by associate Nicholas Secara, also formerly of Baker McKenzie, who brings experience in representing re/insurers in arbitrations, judicial proceedings, and commercial transactions.
Secara co-founded the Insurance Federation of New York, Inc., Emerging Leaders, and served as a Special Assistant Corporation Counsel for the Law Department of the City of New York.
