Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, the commercial insurance arm of the global reinsurance firm, has appointed Jake Algar to the role of Head of UK & Ireland.
Algar has been hired from competitor Zurich Insurance, where he had worked since 2002 in roles working up to the Head of Global & London Market Brokers and the Head of Real Estate.
As Country Head for the UK & Ireland, Algar will also take on the role of Branch Manager of Swiss Re International SE UK branch, subject to regulatory approval.
The role will see Algar manage the strategy, performance and development of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in the UK and Irish corporate insurance markets.
Additionally, Algar will have a key role in implementing the firm’s primary commercial insurance strategy and accelerating its growth through the new regional hub in Manchester.
Algar will be based in London and succeeds Marc Davis, who will remain with Corporate Solutions in a dedicated role as the Head of Sales UK & Ireland.

As well as his roughly 16 years spent working for Zurich Insurance, Algar has also worked in banking with BNP Paribas.
