Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, the commercial insurance arm of reinsurer Swiss Re, has announced the appointment of Manuela Baroncini as Global Head Engineering & Construction (E&C), effective March 1st, 2021.

In her new role, she will be based in London and will report to Martin Hegelbach, Head Property & Specialty.

Baroncini takes over as Global Head E&C from Guido Benz, who as previously announced, is set to join re/insurance broker Aon after 13 years with Swiss Re.

She will be tasked with driving the success of the E&C portfolio, maintaining a profitable book of business and leading a global team of underwriting experts.

Baroncini brings nearly two decades of construction insurance experience to the role, most recently serving as Head of Construction UK for a large commercial insurance carrier. In this capacity, she was responsible for providing construction risk transfer solutions for both domestic and multinational risks to help make clients in the UK and around the world more resilient.

On the departure of Benz, Hegelbach added: “We wish Guido great success in his new role. He has been instrumental in building up our E&C book of business and expanding our product offering. We are sad to see him leave but look forward to continuing the relationship as he will remain active in the insurance market.”
