The Texel Group, an independent specialist credit and political risk broker, has announced the appointment of Rhys Davies as Head of Restructuring, a newly created role.
This new appointment establishes a centre of excellence, intended to enhance Texel’s client services.
In his new role, Davies will collaborate with both the broking team and the claims team, led by Jerry Kohler, to offer clients end-to-end support in various credit and political risk scenarios, particularly providing expert advice on policy management during debt restructuring.
He will be reporting to Carol Searle, General Counsel and Board Director, who commented: “Rhys is a fantastic addition to Texel and we are delighted to welcome him to the Group. His specialist skillset brings invaluable expertise to our clients, and will enhance the service and products we can deliver to clients ensuring we continue to set the standard for our industry.”
Davies, a qualified solicitor, joined Texel from AXA XL, where he served as Claims Manager for Political Risk, Credit and Bonds and Crisis Management.
Prior to that he was a partner in the London office of the global law firm Kennedys, in the Financial and Political Risks division, with a particular focus on the Credit & Political Risk and War, Terror, and Political Violence insurance markets.
Admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales in 2010, the executive possesses extensive experience across various forms of dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
His practice is multi-jurisdictional, covering underlying risks in the UK, Latin America, North America, EMEA, and Asia. Furthermore, he has provided consultation on policy wording reviews.
