Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has announced the appointment of Georgina Furness-Smith as Cyber Underwriter in APAC, a Singapore-based role. She will take up her role on 2 January.
Furness-Smith is a cyber insurance specialist with over five years of underwriting experience.
She is joining TMK from AXIS Capital, where she most recently served as Senior Cyber Underwriter and was responsible for building a cyber property damage portfolio.
TMK’s APAC cyber team has seen substantial growth since its launch in August 2023. In her new position, Furness-Smith will concentrate on further expanding TMK’s presence in key markets throughout the region and continuing and accelerating the team’s rapid growth.
Pavlos Spyropoulos, Regional Managing Director for Asia Pacific, said: “There are significant growth opportunities in the APAC cyber market, and Georgina arrives at an exciting time for the team.
“Since TMK began underwriting cyber from Singapore, the team has gone from strength to strength and Georgina’s expertise will further enhance TMK’s market leading position in the region.”
Furness-Smith, Cyber Underwriter, APAC, commented: “TMK’s team in APAC has a strong reputation for growth and innovation. There is significant scope to expand the cyber proposition and portfolio to unlock new growth opportunities and I am looking forward to joining the team at a key point in its journey.”
This appointment marks TMK’s third new hire in Singapore since September, following the additions of Alex Ampatzis as Head of Marine, APAC and Stephanie Hong as Marine Underwriter.
